Poneke Dojo is pleased to invite you to the official IKO NZ Kyokushin Karate National Championships on Saturday 11 August 2012.
This event will be a huge celebration of everything Kyokushin. The day starts with the Karate Games for the juniors.

Sumo, board breaking, high kick and point sparring competitions are a fun way for the kids to demonstrate some of the basic building blocks of Kyokushin... strength, speed, balance, flexibility, athleticism, focus, technique, composure...
The pinnacle events for the juniors will follow as our strongest and bravest compete for NZ titles in kata and full contact kumite.
The senior event at 1:30 promises some of the best Kyokushin in the South Pacific thanks to our home grown warriors and fantastic support for this year's event from Australia and Japan.
An extra treat for fight fans will be a match fight between Sensei Garry O'Neill and NZ's own Sempai James Eades.
Sensei Garry from Brisbane made top 4 at the World Open in 1995 (as well as every Kyokushin highlight clip since).
Sempai Jamie has held several NZ titles and represented NZ at the World Open Karate Tournament in 2011, fighting the current World Champion toe to toe.
$15 for adults and $5 for kids 16yrs and under. $30 for a family (2 adults + 2 kids).
The kid's event starts at 9:15am. Adults at 1:30pm. Because of the nature of the venue prices are the same all day. We are unable to offer discounts for half a day.
Parking is free for the first 300 cars and great coffee and food will be available so come early and stay for lunch! We look forward to seeing you there.
